Transrectal Sonography (TRUS)

Transrectal ultrasound for detailed high-resolution imaging of the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and surrounding pelvic structures. TRUS uses a specially designed endorectal transducer that provides exceptional image quality of the prostate, far superior to transabdominal scanning. This examination is essential for accurate prostate volume measurement, detection of prostate nodules and abnormalities, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) assessment, prostate cancer screening support, and evaluation of seminal vesicle pathology. TRUS is commonly requested for evaluating elevated PSA levels, urinary obstruction symptoms, infertility assessment in males, and pre-biopsy planning. The procedure is performed with patient comfort as the highest priority, using adequate lubrication and gentle technique. A cleansing enema may be recommended before the procedure for optimal image quality. The examination typically takes 15-20 minutes, and detailed reports with prostate measurements and zonal assessment are provided on the same day.
