Liver Function Test (LFT)

Comprehensive liver function panel providing a detailed assessment of liver health through multiple biochemical markers. The panel includes SGOT/AST (Serum Glutamic-Oxaloacetic Transaminase), SGPT/ALT (Serum Glutamic-Pyruvic Transaminase), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT), Total Bilirubin and Direct Bilirubin, Total Protein, Albumin, and Globulin with A/G ratio. These markers collectively evaluate liver cell integrity (transaminases), biliary function (bilirubin, ALP, GGT), and synthetic function (albumin, protein). LFT is essential for diagnosing and monitoring hepatitis (viral, alcoholic, drug-induced), cirrhosis, fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH), obstructive jaundice, liver tumors, and drug hepatotoxicity. It is also routinely required before starting certain medications (statins, anti-tubercular drugs) and during their course. Fasting for 8-12 hours and avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before the test is recommended. Results are available on the same day with detailed interpretation.
