Blood Pressure Monitoring

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) provides 24-hour automated BP recording for the most accurate assessment of blood pressure patterns. A compact, lightweight BP cuff is worn on the arm and automatically inflates at programmed intervals — typically every 15-30 minutes during daytime and every 30-60 minutes during sleep. The device records systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressure, and heart rate throughout the day and night. ABPM is the gold standard for diagnosing true hypertension, eliminating the 'white coat effect' (elevated BP due to anxiety at the doctor's office), detecting masked hypertension (normal office BP but elevated at home), evaluating nocturnal BP patterns (non-dipping or reverse dipping — associated with increased cardiovascular risk), assessing BP control on medication, and diagnosing resistant hypertension. The monitoring period requires no activity restrictions — patients continue their normal daily routine including work and sleep. The device is returned after 24 hours, and data is analyzed using validated software. A detailed report including average daytime, nighttime, and 24-hour BP values, dipping pattern, and BP load is provided within 1-2 days.
