2D Echocardiography (2D Echo)
Cardiology
2D Echocardiography is a detailed ultrasound examination of the heart providing real-time visualization of cardiac structures and function. Using a transducer placed on the chest wall, 2D Echo produces moving images of the heart chambers, walls, valves, and surrounding structures. It is the primary imaging tool for evaluating heart failure (measuring Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction — LVEF), valvular heart disease (mitral, aortic, tricuspid, and pulmonary valve assessment for stenosis and regurgitation), cardiomyopathy (dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive), pericardial disease (effusion, tamponade, constrictive pericarditis), congenital heart defects, cardiac masses and thrombi, and wall motion abnormalities suggesting coronary artery disease. The examination also includes M-mode for precise measurements and Color Flow Doppler for blood flow assessment. A standard 2D Echo takes approximately 20-30 minutes and requires no special preparation. The patient lies on their left side during the examination. Results are interpreted by our experienced physician with a comprehensive report including all measurements, valve function assessment, and systolic/diastolic function evaluation.
